Alan Skidmore featuring Amampondo
The Call (PVC1018)
UK Release Date: 11 October 1999

A unique collaboration between Britain's foremost jazz saxophonist, Alan Skidmore & South African percussion virtuosos Amampondo, The Call is an album with outstanding energy, passion and style. What at first seemed an unlikely combination has turned out to be a natural and intuitive meeting of musical minds.

Alan was the first jazz musician to play South Africa at the end of Apartheid. During 1994, whilst recording his own one hour TV special shown in Africa, he met Amampondo. Returning to Africa earlier this year Alan fulfilled a dream to record an album with them - the result is the new release on Provocateur Records, ‘The Call’.
